The First Bad Man

Miranda July is an acclaimed filmmaker, director, actress, artist and best-selling writer. She wrote, directed, and starred in The Future, and her first feature-length film, Me and You and Everyone We Know, received a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Her collection of stories, No One Belongs Here More Than You, won the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award and has been published in 20 countries. She has also created a new messaging app, Somebody. Her novel The First Bad Man will be published by Canongate in February 2015. In this talk Miranda will expand more on her work and especially her new novel, The First Bad Man, a tender, gripping, slyly hilarious story infused with raging sexual obsession and fierce maternal love, which confirms her as a spectacularly original, iconic, and important voice today, and a writer for all time.
