A Ghost Story

Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara reunite with writer-director David Lowery (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints) in this hypnotic and highly original drama, wildly acclaimed at Sundance earlier this year.
A young, unnamed couple (Affleck and Mara) move into an old Texas ranch. After an accident, Affleck's white-sheeted ghost returns to his suburban home where he observes the lament of his grief-stricken love. As she pieces together a new life, he discovers that in his spectral state, he is no longer moored in time. Untethered, he journeys through the decades, bearing witness to lives long over and the possibilities of the future, on a quest towards self-completion.
Evoking a profound eeriness from the most minimal and intimate of means, Lowery’s poetic meditation on love and grief gorgeously defies categorisation. Beautifully shot and richly scored, this is a haunted tale like no other and an utterly singular exploration of legacy, loss, and the human need for meaning and connection.
