Bridging the Gap between Artists and Technologists
Lunchtime Talks
Please note: This event took place in April 2016
Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.
In this Lunchtime Talk technologist, interaction designer and Studio resident Tarim will tell some stories about what went right and what didn't go quite so right in the development of some of the installations he's worked on with various artists.
At the Pervasive Media Studio, there is a brilliant community of residents drawn from a diverse set of backgrounds and disciplines. Sometimes when people join, they come from more traditional arts or technology environments, and are seeking to diversifying their practice, to learn about, and integrate new ideas from others. This can be an inspiring but often challenging and disorientating process. Finding ways to navigate and translate between disciplines, find a common language and balance expectations can make all the difference. Tarim will share his own unique experiences and reflections on bridging that perceived gap between arts and technology when working with confidence and curiosity across disciplines.
The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
